2026-27 Leadership Development Academy
Join Us for the New and Improved Leadership Development Academy!
Are you ready to grow as a leader and make a lasting impact on your community? The PRPS Leadership Development Academy is a six month long professional development program designed to help emerging parks and recreation professionals build the skills, confidence, and connections they need to lead with purpose.
Through a combination of virtual meetings, in-person events, guided assignments, and statewide networking opportunities, participants will explore leadership frameworks, set personal growth goals, and engage with the broader PRPS community at events such as the Fall Membership Meeting, District Meetings and Workshops, the Leadership in Action Summit, and the Annual Conference & Expo.
What's New This Year:
-
Built-in Mentorship – each participant is placed in a cohort with other registrants and a mentor for guidance and accountability throughout the program
-
Local Cohorts – you will be grouped with peers from your District for in-person connection and shared learning experiences
-
Leadership Pathways – the program has been restructured to meet your goals and ambitions and is not one-size-fits-all
-
Lower Cost – registration cost has been reduced to $325 (formerly $525), understanding the costly travel burden our professionals are facing
What's Included:
- Cohort-based mentorship with experienced professionals
- Monthly touchpoints including virtual sessions, emails, cohort meetings, and projects
- Content tailored directly to your goals, growth areas, and career aspirations
- Discounted or complimentary access to select PRPS events and programming, including:
- PRPS webinars and panels of directors/committee leaders (free)
- Two-day virtual Leadership in Action Summit with nationally recognized speakers (free)

Mentors Needed!
We are also seeking experienced professionals to serve as mentors for this year's cohorts. Mentors play a key role in guiding mentees through goal-setting, sharing insights from their own leadership journey, and helping foster a strong local cohort community. If you are interested in serving as a mentor, please indicate this during registration or contact Kealy for more information.
